Italians have always been known for fashion. True Italian style starts here in the Capital. Italy has given the world many unforgettable fashion icons, as Gucci, Louis Vitton, Armani and Versacae the look of class can only be completed with an Italians hairstyle to wow the millions.
Elegance has been in Italian blood since Roman times. Roman hairstyles were known for being extremely elaborate. While young girls may have simply put their curly hair back into a bun, the hairstyles of the upper class were very elaborate. Perhaps the key feature was the plenty of ringlets mixed with the Etruscan style of using ribbons at the crown of the head. These elaborate hairstyles were found to be relatively matchless until centuries later.
The Italian Renaissance gave way to art, culture and of course fashion. The Roman styles of long tresses were revived with added imagination. Women began to decorate their hair with beads, precious stones, pearls and veils. Additionally, braiding the hair became a very popular trend.
Italian Ponytails with a twist are a perfect hairstyle for young women because they sweep the hair away from the face, accenting the jaw bone and neck. The classic ponytail has received a modern makeover into such incarnations as the bubble ponytail—a long ponytail that’s created by securing the hair every few inches with elastics down the length of the ponytail. Another twist on the classic ponytail, the “side ponytail” is a retro-’80s hairstyle that’s been revamped in the new millennium and spotted on young female celebrities like Hayden Panettiere, Lindsay Lohan and Taylor Swift.
Even in the 20th century, Italian hairstyles were making a spatter. The branded long hairs were traded in for very short haircuts. For the Italian boy cut, the hair is cut about 4 inches all over and brushed with a forward movement.
